I’m sure many of you will are already aware of this is some way or another, but it is with much regret that I have to formally (and finally) announce that Dead Pilot Records is officially and definitely calling it a day. There’s no hard feelings or bitterness (well, maybe some…) but unfortunately the label just isn’t working any more. Last years sales were terrible and I simply can’t afford to throw money at the label any more. In the beginning Dead Pilot sustained itself and that was great, but as it began to grow it became more & more difficult to keep it going. I tried for as long as I could, but eventually I had to give up. I don’t have the time nor money to push the label to its full potential.

There is a HUGE sale on in the store right now, loads of items are £1 so please help my clear up stock and take advantage of the sale. Not only do I need to clear boxes of unsold cds/vinyl from my place of work, I also need to try and pay back the debts that trying to keep the label afloat have amassed. At the end of the summer, maybe some time around September, I will be taking the store down and selling the left over items just on this blog. Hopefully I won’t have much left. If you are a store and want to buy whole sale I am offering even more crazy discounts, however due to the financial situation I require payment upfront, and I know this is an issue for some. There is a HUGE amount of people I need to thank, but my memory is terrible. So MASSIVE BIG UPS to every one who helped me with the label, every one who bought or supported the label in some/anyway. Thanks to all the artists and bands involved, and of course big thanks to Norman Records for being fucking amazing and supportive and helpful from the very beginning.

Please please please continue to support small, independent and DIY labels. If you enjoy music, BUY IT please! The simple facts are that labels like mine can’t exist without breaking even, so please bare this in mind. We do this through passion and love, but it can’t happen with out money. It’s a sad fact, but that’s life.

Plurals Tour and Supersonic Festival

The Plurals and Aidan Baker tour is now under way! Please note that the Bristol show has been cancelled due to booking error. Also, unfortunately the Tour 12″ wasn’t ready in time for the guys to take with them on the first few dates, but it will be with them from Sunday 9th in Brighton.

Also of note is that I will be hosting a Dead Pilot stall at this years Supersonic Festival! If anyone is going, please come and say hello! There are some awesome bands playing including Electric Wizard, Barn Owl, Eternal Tapestry, so it should be a blast!

Message to Bears new album fund launched!

Message to Bears Album Fund

Today sees the launch of the IndieGoGo campaign to help raise funds for the new Message to Bears album, entitled “Folding Leaves” and a repress on CD and Vinyl of the sold out EP1 release. Both are being remastered by Keith Kennif (Helios, Goldmund et al) and will feature new artwork by Jake Blanchard (Blackest Rainbow et al). The reason behind this is that we wanted to offer you guys more than just a standard preorder, so we could give you something in return for all your support. So head on over here and check out the goodies you can claim, which include a song written just for you by Jerome of Message to Bears and a 1 of a kind test pressing copy of Folding Leaves hand illustrated by Jake.

Plurals & Aidan Baker/Nadja Tour 12″

Plurals (Dan Mackenzie, Mike Neaves, Dave HS, Duncan Harrison, Pete Dodd) are heading out on tour in October with Aidan Baker/Nadja. For full tour dates and tickets check out the Plurals web site here. Currently at the pressing plant is a limited to 200 tour 12″ of new material from them, but for those of you that may be unable to get to any of the gigs, it’s available now for pre order in the Dead Pilot Store. Please bare in mind that they are limited and are not shipping until after the tour, thanks!

Millipede – Realms pre order!

The 4th album from Joseph Davenport aka Millipede entitled Realms is available to pre order now on CD. Hopefully they will begin shipping in 2-3 weeks time. A limited green vinyl version should be out by the end of the year!

Ekca Liena Updates

Daniel W J Mackenzie aka Ekca Liena has been keeping himself extremely busy recently!

Not only was there the recent re-issue of his sold out debut album here on Dead Pilot which featured a bunch of remixes from the likes of Aidan Baker, Clem Leek and more, he has also just completed and released a split release with A Death Cinematic through the wonderful Small Doses label!

Daniel has also recently self released an album of piano material, which is a must listen and produced a mix for Arctic Circle Radio

Mountainhood, Millipede, Message to Bears

Pre orders for Mountainhood – America 2 will begin shipping tomorrow and then will be making it’s way to our stockists in a few weeks time. Don’t forget, orders from the Dead Pilot store come wrapped in kraft paper, with an individual photograph and 2 badges. Those extras will not be found with copies else where!

The third album from Millipede aka Joseph Davenport is now available for pre order! Mastered by Lasse Marhaug, “Realms” is huge! CD version is limited to 200 copies, with a limited coloured vinyl version planned for towards the end of the year.

Test Pressings for One Man Team Dance – Set Menu” have finally been approved and so pre orders should begin shipping in a few weeks time. I’m eternally grateful to your patience on that one.

And finally, soon we’ll be launching an IndieGoGo campaign for a bunch of awesome Message to Bears stuff. We’ll be re-mastering and re-issuing the long sold out EP1 again on both CD and vinyl and also be releasing the new album “Folding Leaves” on both CD and vinyl as well. The IndieGoGo campaign will feature a load of neat extras and bonus stuff that will only be available via the campaign, so keep your eyes peeled on that.
